Lake Tahoe ART SCENE Some background…

Current status: As of MARCH 7, 2015, The ART SCENE – your scenic view from Lake Tahoe weekly radio program airs every Saturday, 1:06-1:30pm, on KOWL am1490 “The Owl” – Tahoe’s Talk, while the weekly Lake Tahoe ART SCENE eLetter that promotes the radio side and all the Arts around Lake Tahoe generally goes out that Thursday eve prior.

My weekly guests are from Tahoe to New York and include artists – all media, dimensions & performance venues – students, teachers, marketing & consultant gurus, non-profit executive directors, gallery owners, framers, City planners, political folks, etc. And there is always room for anyone who offers unique and relevant connections to the Arts. In addition, I especially enjoy airing an Arts History series with the help of retired professor David Foster and others. Ultimately, hosting whatever is current and pertinent to the success of the Arts that entertains and enlightens in the same uplifting regard will be a “win” and keep us all motivated!

Personally: I have been a professional & teaching fine artist for 35+ yrs, gallery director, fine arts consultant, constant advocate for the Arts at Lake Tahoe since 1986 and host of the TAS radio program since May 2010.

… and The Vision

I want to create broad listener interest via KOWL, general podcasting as well as video segments so that The ART SCENE will become a “Creativity Conversation Center” regionally and beyond. This would include anyone with something positive to add to the mix promoting awareness of and openness to our regional and national economic challenges that have potential solutions via the Arts. Such conversations are made for these media formats and can be the bridge, unifying force and educational tool for bringing awareness to the power of the Arts.

In short, developing Tahoe’s national “Arts Identity” will benefit everyone and give us an everlasting economic, cultural & educational force for our area and set an example for others!

Sincerely,

Robert J. Schimmel
